Price Drop for AMD Graphics Card
Bad news for NVIDIA as, interestingly, the release of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti has resulted in a price drop for the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT. While the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti’s only selling point was its recommended retail price, making it a more affordable option, we can now see RX 7900 XT graphics cards on sale in Europe for less than the NVIDIA option.
As is usually the case, it is in Germany where hardware prices begin to drop. It is here that the Radeon RX 7900 XT can now be found for €989. For reference, the cheapest option in our country costs €1,059. In Germany, the launch price was €1,049, which was then reduced to €999 and now to €989, making it cheaper than all the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti on the market.
It seems there is a small price war after all.
It is worth remembering that NVIDIA initially planned to launch the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti at a price of $899. This was eventually reduced to $799 and established at €909.94. In reality, the cheapest model we can find costs €999.94. This means there is a difference of €11 in price compared to the cheapest AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT on the market.
It must be acknowledged that a difference of €11 is not much at all. But if the AMD option already offered more FPS for each euro invested at a price of €1,059, now the offer is even better. That said, both GPUs are still very expensive considering that the RX 7900 XT is really competing with a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, which, in terms of its range, is a mid-high range GPU. Essentially, we are talking about paying almost €1,000 for a GPU in this range.
Performance Comparison
To provide context, it is worth remembering that the Radeon RX 7900 XT is now not only slightly cheaper, but also more powerful. These offer 4% more performance in games at Full HD resolution. 8% more performance at 2K resolution and 10% more performance at 4K resolution.
Where the NVIDIA option excels is, obviously, when activating ray tracing in games. At Full HD resolution, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is 11% faster. At 2K resolution, it is 6% faster and at 4K resolution it is only 3% faster.
In conclusion, it seems that the Radeon RX 7900 XT is a much more attractive option, especially considering its lower price. However, it is worth keeping in mind that the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti still has its advantages, such as ray tracing technology. Ultimately, it will depend on the needs and preferences of each user.
