AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX vs NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080
In terms of performance, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX delivers similar results to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 in Full HD. However, at 2K resolution, the Radeon achieves a 2% improvement margin, while at 4K, this margin increases to 6%.
With Ray Tracing, the Radeon is up to 16% less powerful than the GeForce.
Power consumption
In terms of power consumption, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX consumes 356W compared to 304W for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 in gaming mode. In terms of maximum peak power consumption, the Radeon reaches 455W compared to 371W for GeForce.
With V-Sync at 60 Hz, the Radeon consumes 127W versus 68W for the GeForce. During video playback, the Radeon consumes 88W versus 20W for the GeForce.
Temperature and loudness
In terms of temperature, the Radeon’s hottest point is 73ºC, while the graphics chip reaches 58ºC. The Radeon’s loudness is 39.2 dBA, slightly higher than the GeForce’s 34.3 dBA, with a maximum temperature of 73ºC and a graphics chip temperature of 63ºC.
In terms of price, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX offers 20% more performance per dollar invested compared to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080. Each frame on the Radeon costs $7.8, compared to $9.6 on the GeForce.
However, we still need to know the actual retail price in the market to know if the price difference is significant.
Radeon RX 7900 XT vs NVIDIA RTX 4080
The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 face off in a competition for performance and price.
The RX 7900 XT is a GPU that offers similar performance to its big brother, the RTX 3090 Ti, although it is slightly slower than the RTX 4080.
At Full HD resolution, the RX 7900 XT is 8% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti but 9% slower than the RTX 4080. At 2K resolution, this difference remains around 7% and 10%, respectively, while at 4K, the RX 7900 XT is 12% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti but 14% slower than the RTX 4080.
When Ray Tracing is enabled, the RTX 3090 Ti is up to 16% faster than the RX 7900 XT, and the RTX 4080 is up to 36% faster. However, the RX 7900 XT has better performance per dollar invested than the RTX 4080 at 4K resolution. Each frame at 4K costs $8.3 with the RX 7900 XT versus $7.8 for the RX 7900 XTX and $9.6 for the RTX 4080.
