We have obtained the first performance tests for the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT in 3DMark. This has allowed us to make the first performance comparisons with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series.
These performance tests allow us to know the performance of both graphics cards in 3DMark Time Spy at 4K and 2K resolutions, as well as in an older benchmark like 3DMark Fire Strike, which uses DirectX 11, at the same resolutions.
Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT in 3DMark Time Spy
In a recent 3DMark Time Spy test, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX achieved an impressive performance of 13,729 points at a 4K resolution.
Although the Radeon RX 7900 XT was not far behind, with a performance of 13,687 points in the same test. However, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 achieved a similar performance, reaching 14,005 points at the same resolution.
When these results are compared at a 2K resolution, the GeForce RTX 4080 stands out even more, reaching a performance of 28,058 points, while the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and XT achieved 25,473 points and 23,897 points, respectively.
This demonstrates that at a higher resolution, the GeForce RTX 4080 is capable of performing more efficiently than the Radeon cards.
Although this may seem challenging for AMD, it is important to remember that the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and XT are still an excellent option for those looking for outstanding performance in gaming and 3D applications. Additionally, these graphics cards offer excellent value for their price, making them an attractive option for many users.

Radeon RX 7900 XTX vs GeForce RTX 4080
In this performance test that uses the DirectX 11 API, we can clearly see that the Radeon RX 7900 XTX has superior performance to the GeForce RTX 4080.
At a 4K resolution, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX reaches 18,853 points, while the GeForce RTX 4080 only achieves 17,294 points. At a 2K resolution, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX gets 37,702 points, compared to the 33,932 points of the GeForce RTX 4080.
In summary, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX offers 9% more performance than the RTX 4080 at 4K and 10% more at 2K. The Radeon RX 7900 XT also outperforms the NVIDIA option, although only by 2%.
Price and performance comparison
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 has a suggested price of $1,199, while the Radeon RX 7900 XTX costs $999 and the Radeon RX 7900 XT costs $899. However, these benchmarks are not a precise measure of the performance of each GPU. To get a clearer idea, it would be necessary to average several games.
It is true that the GeForce RTX 4080 has better performance than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and XT in some tests, but the difference is not significant.
In addition, the lower price of the Radeon cards makes them a more attractive option for many users. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on the specific needs and preferences of the user.
