Street vendors are known for selling graphics cards at a fraction of the cost of big-box stores

We never would have thought that we‘d see graphics cards being sold in street markets a few years ago, but that‘s exactly what‘s happening in some parts of the world.

Why is this happening?

It seems that there is an abundance of graphics cards that have never been seen on store shelves being used for mining purposes. With the end of mining due to the change in mining rules with Ethereum 2.0, and the current economic situation, there has been a rise in energy prices around the world. This has led to many of these graphics cards becoming useless.

The problem is only amplified when we consider that you don‘t need more than one graphics card to play games. The consequence of this is that nobody wants a part on their PC that they can‘t use for anything. Although it‘s true that the graphics card could be used to encode streaming in real time, it‘s not practical for most people.

Why would somebody buy a graphics card that may be partially broken?

Well, if you have the right tools and knowledge, you can acquire several of them and use the parts of different units of the same model to create a 100% working one. Of course, not many people can do that. In conclusion, we are seeing graphics cards being sold in street markets because there is no other way to sell them.

Graphics card flea market

Graphics cards are available for purchase from many different types of vendors, including street vendors. When buying from a street vendor, it is important to be aware of the potential risks. Street vendors may not be as reliable as other types of vendors, and there is a greater chance that the product will not be as advertised.Graphics cards purchased from street vendors also typically do not come with a warranty, so if there are any problems with the card, the buyer will be responsible for fixing them.

There are two main reasons for the abundance of graphics cards on the Vietnamese market. The first is that graphics cards cannot be sold any other way; they are simply too valuable. Second, a good configuration for mining should consume as little as possible to get the maximum performance per watt. However, this does not guarantee that all graphics cards will be sturdy and reliable. It is not uncommon for parts of different units to be used in order to create a working product. Of course, not everyone is qualified to do such work. It is important to be careful when considering a purchase, especially if the product is second–hand.
